Fort Ashby
Fort Ashby, West Virginia
The Patterson Creek and South Branch
Valley Settlements, being on the extreme frontier and exposed to the
direct attacks of the Indians who crossed the mountain, were the first
to be fortified. Fort Ashby was built in 1755.

of the items pictured above were destroyed in the fort fire of
January 1995. However, the fort and many items survived the
fire. Tours of the fort are available upon request. |
