Gyantwachia Lodge #255
The Order of the Arrow is Scouting's National Honor Society.
The Order of the Arrow (OA) was founded by Dr. E. Urner Goodman
and Carroll A. Edson in 1915 at the Treasure Island Camp of the Philadelphia
Council, Boy Scouts of America. It became an official program experiment in 1922
and was approved as part of the Scouting program in 1934.
In 1948 the OA, recognized as the BSA's national brotherhood of
honor campers, because an official part of the national camping program of the
Boy Scouts of America. The Order
serves to promote Scouting ideals, the camping program, and to recognize those
Scouts and Scouters who show leadership in cheerful service to others. Native
American traditions, customs, and ceremonies are an integral part of the Order's
program of service. Democratic in nature, Lodges are youth run by young men
under 21 years of age. As members are elected by their fellow Scouts, the OA is
unique in that the majority of those who decide who may join are non-members. Welcome to Gyantwachia Lodge #255
