Purpose and philosophy

Dear parents, my home Daycare is dedicated to providing a warm, inviting, home-like atmosphere that allows children to develop at their own pace.
I believe that children need to have a positive self-image. I foster that image, along with their developmental growth in the areas of intellectual, social, physical, and emotional skills, through a variety of group activities, individual play, and quiet periods.
I strongly believe that with all my knowledge, love, care and your cooperation we will raise happy, healthy, and smart children.

Discipline policy

Based on my life experience raising my own children and working at the Daycare I found out that Positive Guidance Techniques work very well.

1. Ignoring. Sometimes children misbehave just to get attention. The best response may be to ignore the misbehavior, as long as it is not harmful to anyone.
2. Redirection. I offer an alternative to children engaged in undesirable behavior by presenting a different toy or activity.
3. Verbal intervention. I explain to the child the inappropriate behavior and show him/her the appropriate way to handle the situation child engaged.
4. Time out is last action taken for discipline. I will give 1 minute per year of the child’s age to calm down and regain self-control.

If the behavior is severe and dangerous to other children and cannot be corrected, in a reasonable amount of time, termination of care may be necessary. In such a case, a 2 week notice will be given.

Illness
If a child becomes ill I will do everything possible to comfort the child until the parent, or emergency contact person arrives to take the child home.
Parent will be notified and required to remove the child immediately if a child exhibits any of the following symptoms:

Fever of 101 F (38.3C)
Persistent diarrhea
Severe coughing
Difficulty breathing
Conjunctivitis
Vomiting
Difficulty in swallowing
Unusual spots or rashes
Child may only return to care after 24 hours of no symptoms!

Parents of all children in care required to complete and submit to the caregiver a child medical record.
In the case of an accident, an incident report must be filled out and signed by both parent and caregiver. Caregiver will give proper medical treatment immediately. If hospital visit is necessary, an ambulance will be called as will a parent

Time off and vacation time

Parents vacation
Parents of children who attend daycare full time, year round, are allotted 1 week without payment. If parents would like take more than 1 week, they have to pay for additional week(s) of vacation.
Two weeks advance notice must be given to provider.

Provider vacation, illness policy
The provider is allotted 2 weeks paid vacation. Two weeks notice will be given to parents.
The provider is allotted 5 paid sick days per year.

Substitutes
There may be times when it is necessary to have a substitute caregiver. When this occurs, parents will be notified and all parties will be familiar with such a person.

Releasing a child from care

I will only release a child to the following persons:
1. Child’s parent (s)
2. The emergency contact person
3. Any other guardian to whom the parent, by way of written authorization, allows me to release the child.
For the safety of child, I will also not release a child to parent/guardian who appears intoxicated or does not have proper child restraint seats in their vehicle.

Child abuse

All caregivers are required by law to report any suspected cases of child abuse or neglect.

Transportation and field trips
Caregiver must have a signed release form to transport your child. Make sure you have this on file. Parents must provide caregiver with an appropriate car seat, and caregiver will use as low requires.

Termination policy
I reserve the right to immediately terminate for following reasons:

• If parents does not make scheduled payments.
• Physical or verbal abuse of any person or property.
• If child becomes a danger to the other children.
• False information given by parent either verbally or in writing.

You must give me 2 weeks notice if your child will be leaving my care.

Damages
I believe that children should be taught respect for other people’s property, and if your child damage my property you the parent, will be responsible for replacing.
